Traditional Music


 

Chancel Choir

 This choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00 and sings each Sunday at the 11:00 service.  The Chancel Choir also provides music for special services during Advent, Christmas Eve, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter, and also occasionally provides special programs in the church or elsewhere in the community.  New members are always welcome.


 

 

Sanctuary Choir

 This choir rehearses on Sunday mornings from 9:30 – 10:10 and sings each Sunday at the 8:30 service (but does not sing the first Sunday of each month).  This choir does not typically sing at special services but usually provides special music on Christmas Eve and Easter. New members are always welcome.


Bells of the Lakes

Utilizing five octaves of Malmark Handbells, this adult handbell choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 7:15 and plays at both the 8:30 and 11:00 services, approximately once a month.  This bell choir also provides music for special services during Advent, and on Christmas Eve and Easter, and ministers to the community by playing occasional concerts at nursing homes and similar venues, especially during the Christmas season. Youth Music Ministries

Cherub Choir    This preschool and kindergarten choir practices Sunday mornings in Room 220A (Children Around the World room), from 10:30 – 10:55 and sings at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services, approximately once a month.

Wesley Choir    This choir is for children in 1st grade through 4th grade.  Wesley  Choir rehearses on Wednesday afternoons in the Sanctuary, from 4:45 – 5:30 and sings at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services, approximately once a month.

Lakeshore Choir     This choir is for youth in 5th grade through 10th grade and rehearses on Wednesday afternoons in the choir room, from 4:45 – 5:30.  This choir sings at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services, and occasionally the 8:30 service, approximately once a month.

Youth Bells    This youth handbell choir is available to youth in 6th through 12th grade.  Youth Bells rehearse on Wednesday afternoons in the choir room, from 3:45-4:45, and play approximately once every six weeks at the 11:00 service, and occasionally at the 8:30 service.

Children's Chimes    This handchimes ensemble for children in 2nd through 6th grade utilizes 2 to 3 octaves of and is especially intended for beginning ringers.  Chimes rehearse on Thursday afternoons in the choir room, from 4:15 – 4:55 and play as they are ready, usually at the 11:00 service.

 


Other Vocal and Instrumental Ministries

Men's Chorus     This 18-voice group rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. and sings a variety of sacred anthems, a cappella pieces, and spirituals at the 8:30 and 11:00 services throughout the year.  New members are always welcome.

Women's Chorus    This 20-voice group rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. and sings a variety of sacred anthems and spirituals at the 8:30 and 11:00 services throughout the year.  New members are always welcome.

Joy Ringers    This ensemble of four ringers performs 4-in-hand pieces and handbell quartets at the 8:30 and 11:00 services.  They are also available to provide special music for area organizations, events, weddings and parties.

Brass Ensemble     This ensemble varies in size from a brass quartet to a much larger ensemble and provides special music throughout the year at various services.  This group also plays at special services such as Thanksgiving and Easter, or whenever needed for special anthems or hymns.  Rehearsal times may vary. "Not Quite Saints"     This high-energy Dixieland Band provides special music during worship periodically and also ministers to the community by providing music at nursing homes, other churches, and other venues.  Rehearsal times may vary.  For more information please contact Denny Smith at 330-499-6626.

Church of the Lakes Dance Band    This 17-piece band with vocalist plays big band, swing, jazz and Latin favorites and familiar ballads and waltzes from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, and 60s.  This group plays benefit dances in the community approximately twice a year.  For more information please contact Denny Smith at 330-499-6626.

Summer Special Music  Throughout the summer months, special music at the 8:30 and 11:00 services is provided by various vocal soloists, instrumentalists, and ensembles from within the church family and from the community.  These special music offerings are provided on a volunteer sign-up basis.  Anyone interested in providing special music during the summer months (mid-June to early September) should please contact Julie Geiser at (330) 499-8972.
